Your Opportunity

As our Geophysicist, you will play a leading role in developing, managing, and advancing Greenland's national geophysical data assets. What You Will Do

You will:

• Lead the development and modernization of Greenland's national geophysical database.
• Design and maintain scalable workflows for managing large geophysical datasets.
• Develop innovative digital products and data services that make geophysical information easily accessible to the exploration industry.
• Contribute to national geoscience projects supporting sustainable mineral development.
• Provide technical expertise and scientific advice to government, industry, and research partners.
• Collaborate across disciplines to deliver modern digital solutions for geoscience data management.
• Support the promotion of Greenland's mineral potential through high-quality geoscientific information.

Who You Are

You are equally comfortable discussing geophysical interpretation, database architecture, spatial analysis, and data workflows. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and making large scientific datasets usable for others.

You likely have:

• An MSc or PhD in Geophysics or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Strong experience working with large geophysical datasets.
• Expertise in geophysical data processing, interpretation, and quality assurance.
• Experience with database design and management.
• Excellent GIS skills, for example ArcGIS Pro or QGIS
• Experience developing automated data workflows and digital geoscience products.
• Programming or scripting experience (Python, MATLAB, SQL, or similar).
• Project management experience involving multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both specialists and non-specialists.
• A collaborative mindset combined with the ability to work independently.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have Experience With

• Airborne magnetic, gravity, electromagnetic, hyperspectral, or radiometric datasets.
• 3D geophysical modelling software.
• Cloud-based geospatial infrastructure or web mapping services.
• Machine learning or advanced analytics applied to geoscience.
• Working within public administration or governmental organizations.
• Greenlandic language or knowledge of Greenlandic culture.

About the Department of Geology

The Department of Geology serves as the Government of Greenland's principal geoscientific advisor. Our work spans geological mapping, applied research, mineral resource assessment, data management, and international promotion of Greenland's mineral potential.

Our multidisciplinary team collaborates closely with the national and international partners like universities, research institutions, and the global exploration industry.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including relocation and travel benefits where applicable, are determined according to the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organisation.

The standard working week is 40 hours.

Housing

Please note that staff housing is not provided for this position.

Applicants who already occupy government staff housing through existing employment with the Government of Greenland may retain their housing rights in accordance with current regulations. Staff housing is linked to employment and must be vacated when employment ends.
